Beautiful Bakewell.

On our way home from Branston, we stopped off at the beautiful Bakewell. We'd been meaning to visit for a while but never got around to going, so this was the perfect opportunity to stretch our legs and have an explore. We were really lucky weather-wise and the rain held off long enough for us to have a good look around the town. There are so many quirky shops and windy streets to nosey around, we were in our element. I even managed to find a cafe that sold gluten and dairy free cakes, the lemon slice was the most delicious thing ever. Mr A had a traditional Bakewell pudding, a little different to the Bakewell tarts we are used to!

We finished off our little trip down by the river. The water was so clear, I was dying to get in for a paddle! We strolled along the riverbank taking in the gorgeous scenery and trying to escape being chased by geese...I'm not their biggest fan. The town and surroundings are just idyllic, we will certainly be visiting again!

Have you ever been to Bakewell?

Holiday Beauty Prep.

A week today I'm heading to sunny Spain, Madrid to be exact. I can't tell you how excited I am for so real sunshine, but as I've not been away this summer I've maybe left my legs to do their own thing. I HATE shaving my legs, it's easily my least favourite beauty chore so when Veet* offered an alternative, I couldn't resit trying out waxing.

I used my Body Shop scrub in Peach the day before using the waxing kit. I have pretty dry skin and knew using a scrub and waxing kit the same day would be awful for my little legs. I'm a big wimp so I had to brace myself to use the Veet Wax Roll on Kit, the kit takes around 20 minutes to heat up so I managed to talk myself into it during the heating time. The kit is so easy to use, you roll on the wax, apply the strip and pull - voila. Okay, I don't have the biggest pain threshold and I do have hairy legs so the first few strips weren't that pleasant. However, the more I did the easier it got. You get some little wipes in the pack to help remove any excess stickiness, which are really useful for your hands!

After I finished my waxing, I applied my Lavera Coconut and Vanilla body lotion, which I actually got form Germany. I love the scent, it reminds me of ice cream and makes me smell all Summery. I always find that when I buy a product form holiday, it always reminds me of happy memories from my jollies.

Finally I had to ensure my feet looked just as pretty as my hair-free legs. I've been loving the P2 Volume Gloss gel-like nail polish (again from Germany). The formula is incredible and so long lasting, this polish cost me around 99p - these are an absolute steal. If you're in Europe and stumble across P2 as a brand, I recommend you buy as much as possible.

I can't wait for Madrid to discover some Spanish beauty brands. I'm obsessed with supermarkets and beauty stores that are native to a particular country. Roll on Spanish beauty products.

Lock House.

I will be honest, I've always been a little snobby about staying in a BnB. I trust hotels and know exactly what I'm getting but for years my hubby has been trying to persuade me to try something else. I can officially say I've been converted. This is the second time we've booked through Air BnB and I'm totally on board with it now. Mr A has left me to it and I've chosen the BnB I like and then contacted the owner, which is surprisingly nice. I like being able to speak to the owner before hand and know exactly who's house I'm staying in.

That brings me to this incredible BnB in Branston (yep, where they make the pickle!). We wanted a night's stay away before going back to work and settled on exploring the Peak District. I chose the gorgeous Lock House, which is situated right on the canal. It really couldn't have been more idyllic, we had an incredible stay. We managed to find food on foot too, which was lovely to spend some time outside. We walked two miles to the canal marina and had a delicious meal - yes, that is is GF and DF pizza..yum. The best part? It's £68 a night.

This isn't a sponsored post, I just wanted to share our wonderful stay and my new favourite app. Next Air BnB stop is Madrid!

Afternoon Tea.

I'm a huge soft drink fan, as I don't drink tea or coffee I get my caffeine fix from pop..mainly Pepsi Max. I know it's not good for me but I figured it's better than downing cans of Red Bull to keep me alert. Anyway, for days when I need a little boost but don't fancy anything fizzy, I'm always a little bit stuck. Thankfully, my prayers have finally been answered in the form of Hampstead Iced Teas*.

The drinks come in the perfect packaging for on the go and have actually been designed so I don't have to drink all at once. There is something that feels really cool and trendy when drinking from a carton with a lid. Despite hating warm tea, I do actually quite enjoy an iced tea from time to time. From the collection of teas I tried the Green Tea with Lemon, Oolong Tea with Elderflower and Oolong Tea with Peach. Of the three the Elderflower was my absolute favourite although the Peach and Lemon were pretty yummy too.

These were perfect just from the carton, however I can imagine they would be incredible in the sunshine over ice. I was really impressed with the quality and taste of the tea, for £1.69 each they're certainly a good alternative to fizzy pop.

Being Thrifty.

I've always been one for a bargain, something which you will be well aware of if you follow my blog regularly. Hunting around charity shops, Depop and eBay are some of my favourite past times, which can be hit or miss sometimes. However recently I've picked up a few exciting buys, so I though I'd share them with you.

Jack Wills dress - £3.50

This is just the prettiest, ditsy print dress. The floral pattern is just perfect for heading into autumn. It's also in perfect condition and so well made, I just can't wait to wear this. This style retails around £60 on the Jack Wills website.

Hand Made Green Jumper - £3

I spotted this the second I walked into the shop and knew I had to have it. Green is easily my favourite colour to wear and the knit of this jumper is gorgeous. This has actually been hand made, which made it even more of a great find.

Jones + Jones Dress - £8

I've been hunting Depop for weeks looking for a dress for my graduation ball. I'm not a 'fancy' girl so just wanted something that was very me. I love the style of Jones + Jones dresses and when I saw this was being sold for less than a tenner I knew I had to grab it. I have a few other options for my grad ball but this is certainly in the running. These pretty dresses retail around £60.

Ariel Print - £2.50

I picked this up from a Depop seller who hand makes the prints. The Little Mermaid is my all time favourite Disney film so I couldn't resit ordering this. It's such a pretty print and will look fab in my loft when we've finished decorating.

Russ Cheri Teddy - £1.50

After doing a little research I found that this bear is a Valentine's Day limited edition called Cheri. I'm a sucker for teddies and this was just sat all alone, so it had to come home with me. It is immaculate with it's tag still on. She's now sat happily on my rocking chair.

They are my latest finds, do you like being thrifty?

Dairy Free Peanut Butter Slab.

I've been craving flapjacks and brownies recently, knowing I can't eat either I took it upon myself to create my own version. I took a little inspiration form Jess from Jess Beautician on YouTube, who's recipes I'm obsessed with and gathered my ingredients together. This is a super easy recipe and the best part is, it involves zero baking.

For the base you will need:

1 cup Crunchy Peanut Butter
1/2 Cup Caster Sugar
4 Madjool Dates
1 Tbs Honey (or Vegan alternative)

And for the topping:

100g 80% Dark Chocolate Buttons
1 Tbs Honey (again, you can use and alternative)
Peanut Butter to decorate

I whizzed all the base ingredients together in a blender then emptied out into a tray that had been pre-lined with baking paper. I then pressed down and made sure the mixture was packed as tight as possible and popped it to one side.

Then melt your chocolate and drizzle over the base. I didn't want a thick coating of chocolate, but there is no reason why you can't be more generous. I then decorated with peanut butter and swirled it out using the tip of my knife. Then pop it in the fridge for at least 2 hours and enjoy!

This is such a yummy snack when I'm craving something sweet. I could have probably got away with using no caster sugar, but I have a huge sweet tooth - maybe next time.

A Face Mask Good Enough to Eat.

Being dairy free I don't get to try out chocolate very often, however this is chocolate with a twist - in face mask form. I was kindly sent the Chocolate Mud Mask from Asarii* to try out.

The mask is gorgeously thick and applies really nicely to the skin. The mask is packed full of loveliness including cocoa, bamboo, aloe vera and vitamin E, which certainly gave my skin the boost it needed. I'm actually obsessed with the smell of this, it smells like a huge pot of melted chocolate, which is not good when I crave a Dairy Milk bar.

Asarii are a fairly new brand and at the moment have three face masks on sale. The other two are Vanilla and Green Tea, which will certainly be on my 'to buy' list, especially if they smell just as good as this one.

You can find out more here, each of the masks are priced at £21.99 for 100g.

Dog Shows and Sunshine.

Last weekend myself and the hubby made the most of the lovely weather and headed to a local Agricultural Show. That makes us sound really middle class, however I mainly wanted to go cos it was a chance to look at lots of animals and spend time in the sunshine. It was such a fun day, packed with competitions, food, craft stalls and lots of horse and dog shows. I thought I'd share a few photos from our day.

Yep, there was a best vegetable competition which we found hilarious. There was also best flower arrangement, best fruit and art competitions.

I managed to get a gluten/dairy free lemon top! For those from the North East, you'll know Redcar does THE best lemon tops. I must say this wasn't the best I've had, but it was pretty good - plus I could actually eat it. I was in love with the old school ice cream van it came from too.

There was a petting zoo with alpacas (!!) and other animals, which I was way too excited about. We also popped along to see which sheep won the best breed, they were these crazy curly haired sheep that looked a little like poodles! It turns out wild sheep don't really like being petted...

My favourite part of the day was the fun dog show. Anyone could enter and it was really light-hearted and pretty funny at times. All of the dogs seemed to be enjoying themselves too, showing off their walking skills and tricks and generally having a good time with the other pooches.

The whole day was really fun and nice to get out and about in the local countryside. Haigh Show is an annual event, so hopefully I will be heading back next year.

Lush Bubbleroon.

I adore Lush and I've been dying to head down to London and visit the new Oxford Street store. I popped into one of the Manchester branches last week to see some of the new goodies that are being rolled out from the flagship store and I certainly wasn't disappointed. Although I didn't pick up any of the new bits I did grab one of the Bubbleroons in Yuzu and Cocoa, which was new to me.

I was really drawn in by the chocolatey orange scent and the style of the product reminded me just of a macaroon. I'm a big fan of the bubble bars cos I feel you get more for your money, although every now and again a bath bomb is the perfect treat. The Bubbleroon works very similarly to the bubble bars, you crumble under running water and watch the bubbles develop.

The scent is just to die for and completely fills the room. I adore the feeling this gives your skin too, the bubbleroon is packed full of loveliness including banana, avocado, cocoa butter and grapefruit oil - all to keep your skin super soft and supple.

I would certainly recommend trying this bubbleroon out, it's really cute and looks good enough to eat, but certainly does it's job.
