I Was Here - Gayle Forman.

"...what I'm asking you all to do -  isn't easy. To let our scars heal. To forgive. And hardest of all, sometimes, is to forgive ourselves." - I was here, Gayle Forman

Over the past year or so I've become obsessed with crime dramas and mystery story lines. I'm a complete addict when it comes to juicy story lines and I've been loving the podcast Serial and was on the edge of my seat all the way through The Missing series at the end of last year. I'm now loving Pretty Little Liars which is something I would have totally hated in the past - maybe I'm becoming a bit braver in my old age..

That brings me on to this book. I'd heard a lot about Gayle Forman's previous novels so I was really looking forward to giving this one a read. I was here* is the story of two best friends, one who happens to have commited suicide. Meg and Cody grew up together, so when Meg takes her own life Cody finds grieving a struggle so tries to come to terms with Meg's death by looking for clues in the run up. It's hard to give a good synopsis of this book without giving too much away but this is certainly worth a read, especially if you've lost someone close. For me this is a true story of love, loss and forgiveness. And somehow getting through the day and living without your loved one.

This is a great read, really well written and with a perfect ending.

  1. I'm really excited to pick up this book and give it a try - I've read If I Stay and loved it so I'm looking forward to trying some more of Forman's novels!
