Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Today I'm discussing something a little different, the 'Big C'. One particular type - breast cancer. As October is Breast Cancer Awareness month I thought this was a good time to introduce the topic. Just a little disclaimer, I haven't been asked to write this post, it's something that I want to write and I think is really important to discuss. I think it's fair to say cancer will have an affect on the majority of people's lives. Whether that be directly or with family members suffering, cancer is a trivial topic to discuss but I think the more we talk the less 'scary' it might feel.

Unfortunately, earlier this year a close relative of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully, she has now been given the all clear after undergoing treatment. Although unless there is a strong history of breast cancer in a family, the odds are it isn't genetic, I still feel as though I need to be just that little bit more wary.

Breast Cancer is in fact the most common cancer in women, in the UK. That's why I think it's so important to stop being so British and uptight and actually talk about our breasts. I like to think I know my body pretty well, and I check mine at least two or three times a week. It's so easy to do and I find it part of my morning routine, after I've showered, I check for any lumps and make sure there are no visible changes either. It's really important to check under your armpits too and make sure there isn't anything naughty going on there.

A lot of brands like to join in during breast cancer awareness month, which is fab, but I just wish they would donate a little more than 10% of the product. I'm sure you'll all agree that any product related to breast cancer awareness, tends to be very feminine and very, very pink. I think we need to remember men can also develop breast cancer! With that said, I have picked a few of my favourite products that donate to breast cancer charities:

I found all of these on Marie Claire's website, which tells you exactly where to purchase them!

Hope you've enjoyed something a little different!
