Bad Tan.

Palmers Cocoa Butter Natural Bronze Body Lotion

This post may be a little controversial because so many people love this stuff, however I do not. If you've seen any photos of me or watched my YouTube videos, you will know I am THE palest person in the world.  I tend to embrace my ghost-like skin during the winter but like a little colour in my skin when we are heading towards summer. I burn unbelievably easy so the safest way for me to tan is via a bottle, and after seeing so many positive reviews about this product I took the plunge.

So first up, this was on offer at just over £3 when I bought it, so price wise I was pretty impressed so that gets a tick from me. But the actual product it's self is really not for me. This smells amazing when you initally apply it, but then after around an hour or so it turns into the well known fake tan smell. I don't have a huge problem with this but it's kind of deceiving the way it changes, plus I've had other tans that have smelt weaker than this.

I always use a mitt when applying to avoid those awful streaks and to get an even tan. This went on well and evenly however on my legs the colour didn't change at all - apart from around my ankles. Obviously I know this is a gradual tan, but after applying for 3 days straight you expect to see some of a difference. On the upside it didn't turn me orange like some gradual tans - Dove I am looking at you, but it didn't change the colour of my skin to a brown either. In fact, the only area that has changed and taken to the tan is my stomach, but to be honest I don't tend to walk around with my stomach out, so that's pretty useless.

I've not enjoyed using this tan at all, it takes quite a while to soak in and just doesn't change my skin. Maybe I'm too pale for this tan? I know other that can't get enough of this but it really isn't for me. On the upside I do like the pump-style bottle it comes in.

Do you love/hate this tan? Can anyone recommend an alternative?

  1. I tried this too and it made no difference to me either! :( I use the Nivea one religiously - it gradually builds to a really natural colour and it's not orange at all! It smells quite fruity compared to other fake tans too! :)

  5. I normally like this brand but have never tried this. May steer clear and stick to what I know. Love Laura xxx A Scottish Lass

  6. Me and fake don't get along well! I've tried couple of this type of tanning products and I still haven't found a good one! Dove is by far the worst one though!!! xx

  7. I was looking to try this because I'm allergic to the Garnier one, think I may give it a miss now :(

  8. I bought this a couple of weeks ago but I haven't got round to trying it out yet. I'm hoping it works better for me than it did for you! xx

  9. I find build-up tans are very unreliable, I prefer instant ones myself. Great review :-)

I'm hosting a giveaway if you're interested! xo

  10. I love the idea of this... I like that it doesn't smell of horrible biscuits, and builds up a colour xx
